Personal Progress Project

Kiana has wanted to paint her bedroom since we moved into the new house.  We finally got the opportunity this month because she needed to do a project for her personal progress. She decided this was a good time to redo her room.  She choose the colors of pink and grey.  It was a good learning experience for all of us, especially for Kiana.  It took a lot longer to do than expected and we needed extra help with the tall ceilings, but it turned out great!

June 2016

We were very busy in the month of June.  We celebrated Aaron's 45th birthday, Father's Day, and my 1/2 birthday.  Kiana and I were also able to attend Girl's Camp.  I was able to help in the kitchen this year.  Although I was very busy all week, I was able to see Kiana each day and Aaron was also able to come up and visit us one night. Good Times!
We have also had a good start to our summer vacation.
Swimming, popsicles, sleeping in, and making cookies has kept the fun going!

May 2016

The month of May was filled with new activities.  The first one was the Seminary Scriture Bowl.  Kiana had a great time searching for scriptures and enjoying the night with friends.
We went with Andrea to purchase her first car--it's a beauty!
Since we now have 3 cars at our house again, we spent Labor Day cleaning and organizing the garage so they would all fit--Looking good dad!

New York

After being in Chicago, we decided to extend our stay on the East Coast a little bit longer so we could visit Ron & Rachel, who live in Pennsylvania and to see some more sights like New York City!

WOW!
NYC is a busy, crazy bustle of fun.  Our first day we took a bus tour around the city and saw many famous sights.
We were also able to visit and view the 911 Memorial.  It was a very special feeling to be there and to read all of the names of those who lost their lives.
We also took a boat ride out to the the Statue of Liberty.  This too was very special to see and to relect on the freedoms of our country.
To get the true feel of New York City we attended the Broadway play, Aladdin.  It was amazing!
Central Park was at the top of my bucket list and it did not disappoint!  I LOVED walking around and taking LOTS of pictures.  It was fun to actually see in person the wonderful sites that I had only seen in the movies.  I could have stayed in the park all day!
After Central Park, we met up with Ron & Rachel.  We had lunch and then visited the Manhattan Temple.  Once inside, it was amazing how quiet it was, especially after being outside in the noisy city.  To get the full experience of being in New York, we took a ride on the subway before heading out of the city!
The next couple of days we spent in Philly and saw some more famous sights like the Rocky statue, the new Philadelphia temple, and the Delaware River.  We even found a small cheesesteak deli and enjoyed some delicious food.  We loved seeing more of our country and visiting with Ron & Rachel.

Chicago

Aaron had another training class for work in Chicago Illinois and I was lucky enough to be his traveling companion. We flew out early so we could see some of the sights.  Our first stop was the Chicago Illnois Temple--It was beautiful!
During the week when Aaron wasn't in class, we set out to see a little bit more of Chicago (aka "The Windy City") We saw beautiful skylines, the Trump building, and we were also able to visit Millenium Park.
My favorite sight was "The Cloud" (aka "The Bean")  The weather was clear so we could see the reflecting of the amazing city that surrounded the park
We also visited the Navy Pier.  The weather was a bit chilly, but we loved seeing the beautful sights.

I received some wonderful gifts for Mother's Day.  One of my favorites was a framed picture from my missionary.  I'm so lucky to have 3 wonderful children. It makes me so happy to be a mother.
We were also able to Skype Elder Chatfield.
He looks happy and healthy--Good Times!

Track and Field Team

Kiana joined the track team this year.  Her P.E. teacher was also the track coach and she encouraged Kiana to join after seeing her do so well in her P.E. class.  To our surprise she joined and has loved being a part of the team and learning new things about track, running, and sprinting in particular.
We were able to go to several of her track meets.
Kiana was involved in the 100 Meter Dash, 200 Meter Dash, and 4x100 Meter Relay.

By the end of the season, Kiana had earned the most improved award from her coach.

Tax Season Break

Every year at the end of tax season we take a mini vacation to celebrate all of the hard work Aaron has done for our family.
This year we headed south to the "City by the Bay"
Our first stop was to hop on a boat and sail out to the island of  Alcatraz.
We were able to tour the island, listen to some interesting history facts, and take some beautiful pictures.
Not only was the view beautiful, but the island had wonderful folage and flower gardens.
After our island tour, we walked over to Pier 39 for more ocean views and yummy food!
Nearby we found a fun restaurant for dinner.
The next morning we drove to K1Speed to do some go cart racing.
We were suited up and given some training and then set lose on the course.
It was a lot of fast racing fun!

Card Shower

All of Leanne's friends & family threw her a "Card Shower".  Everyone sent her cards in the mail on a specific day letting her know how much they loved her.  It was  a lot of fun secretly saving the cards for her and then throwing her a "Card Party" complete with treats and party favors!
Leanne is LOVED!

Haircut

After Leanne started her first chemo treatment, she knew she would have to deal with hair loss.  It wasn't coming all out at once, so she decided to just go a bit shorter before it was all gone.  Kiana offered to help.  It was a fun experience despite the negative situation.  Kiana did an awesome job! Sometimes it's hard to find the good during times of bad, but Leanne did a great job and she still looks amazing even with short hair!
